The Philippine National Police (PNP) will place parts of Metro Manila under full alert status on Saturday, February 21, in preparation for the third “Trillion Peso March” anti-corruption rally set along EDSA.
The event will coincide with activities marking the 40th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution on February 25.
In a press briefing at Camp Crame, NCRPO spokesperson Maj. Hazel Asilo said the highest alert level will be implemented even though authorities have not monitored any specific security threats.
Police presence will be concentrated along EDSA, where one group has secured a permit to hold its program, as well as in other identified areas that may serve as alternative protest sites.
The heightened security follows the first Trillion Peso March held on September 21, 2025, which turned violent after a separate group of youths allegedly attacked individuals and damaged property.
Around 11,000 police personnel have been readied and deployed across Metro Manila to secure the large-scale rally, which is expected to draw approximately 20,000 participants. Authorities said the full alert status ensures maximum police visibility, rapid deployment capability, and coordinated crowd control measures to maintain peace and order during the demonstrations.
