The Philippine National Police - National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Friday that it is investigating the five caskets abandoned in different areas of Metro Manila that contained messages against the China and Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).

NCRPO said the caskets were found in the following areas:

• Sta. Cruz, Manila
• Barangay 54, Caloocan City
• Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City
• Barangay Sta. Teresita, Quezon City
• Gil Puyat, Makati City

“The caskets were deliberately abandoned by perpetrators wearing masks on board white and gray vans at around 2:00 to 4:00 in the morning of August 7, 2026,” the NCRPO said.

The caskets reportedly contained anti-CPP-NPA and anti-China messages.

PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. ordered a thorough and comprehensive investigation into the incident, with authorities reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to identify the individuals behind the act.

“NCRPO investigators are now on the ground conducting thorough backtracking and forward tracking of CCTV footages,” the NCRPO said.

The police office described the incident as a “deliberate act intended to attract attention, provoke public reaction, and possibly create unnecessary alarm.”

“This cowardly act will not be left unpunished,” the NCRPO added.

Authorities assured the public that efforts are underway to determine the identities of those responsible and that appropriate criminal charges will be filed once the investigation is completed.
