The Philippine National Police (PNP) has ordered the initiation of dismissal proceedings against four police officers implicated in indiscriminate firing incidents during the recent holiday season.

PNP Acting Chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the involved personnel, one Police Master Sergeant, one Police Senior Master Sergeant, and two patrolmen, have been disarmed. One of the suspects remains at large, while follow-up operations are ongoing, particularly in connection with the incident in Cagayan de Oro City.

Nartatez added that regional police directors in Western Visayas, Caraga, and the National Capital Region Police Office have been directed to ensure full cooperation in the investigation. He stressed that the officers are facing both administrative and criminal liabilities depending on the outcome of the probe.

The PNP chief reiterated his one-strike policy against indiscriminate firing, warning that any police personnel found guilty will face dismissal from service and possible imprisonment.
