Philippine National Police (PNP) Officer-in-Charge Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. emphasized that any reshuffling or reassignment of police officials will go through the standard procedures.
When asked whether those officials who were previously reassigned under former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III would be reinstated to their original posts, Nartatez responded that the organization is ready to serve based on the decisions of the appointing authority, as reported by RH Edniel Parrosa.
It can be recalled that one of the reported reasons for Torre's removal from his post was his alleged failure to comply with a directive from the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) concerning the appointment of certain officials.
Following his appointment, Gen. Nartatez was also asked about his initial directives to the police generals and star-ranked officers he met right after the ceremony.
His message was clear: they should immediately return to their duties and refrain from holding any form of victory celebrations.
Though no official statement has yet been released, former PNP Chief Torre expressed his gratitude to his supporters through a Facebook post yesterday, stating: “Salamat po sa suporta nyo!”
