The Philippine National Police on Monday dismissed claims made by Sen. Rodante Marcoleta that an arrest against him was imminent, saying no court has issued any warrant and no directive exists for his detention.

At a press briefing in Camp Crame on June 22, PNP acting spokesperson Allen Rae Co said the police force has not received any arrest warrant involving the senator from any judicial body, as reported by RH Edniel Parrosa.

He added that law enforcement operations are strictly based on official court processes.

In a separate statement earlier in the day, PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. rejected suggestions that the police were preparing to act on unverified reports.

“The Philippine National Police has not issued any special operational directive concerning Senator Marcoleta, and we do not act on rumors or unverified information,” Nartatez said.

Meanwhile, last Tuesday, Marcoleta said he would continue pursuing an inquiry into alleged irregularities in flood control projects despite the possibility of his arrest, appealing to the public for support in a video message released online.

“Hindi kami titigil hanggat hindi natin natutukoy ang mga taong ito,” Marcoleta said, referring to individuals he alleges are behind anomalies in government flood control projects.
