The Philippine National Police (PNP) has expressed concern over recent conflicts in the Middle East and their potential implications for Filipinos abroad and security at home.
In a statement, PNP Chief Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. emphasized that while there is no specific threat currently being monitored, all police units have been instructed to remain vigilant and uphold standard security measures as part of routine precautionary protocols.
The PNP also noted it is coordinating closely with relevant agencies and stakeholders to ensure preparedness and protect key establishments and the public nationwide.
"Maintaining peace and order remains our top priority, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to protect and serve every community,” the statement said.
The heightened concern comes in the wake of ongoing military operations in the Middle East, including recent air strikes conducted by the United States and Israel on Iran.
Tragically, the Philippine Embassy in Israel confirmed that a Filipino worker was killed during a missile attack in Tel Aviv on February 28. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Mary Ann V. de Vera, had been working as a caregiver in Israel since 2019.
The PNP reminded the public that its security measures are precautionary, and urged overseas Filipino workers and travelers to stay updated on developments in the region.
