The Philippine National Police (PNP) has lowered its nationwide alert status from “full alert” following the Trillion Peso March 2.0.

However, Acting PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the police force remains on “heightened alert” status as part of its security preparations for the upcoming Christmas season, as reported by Edniel Parrosa.

Nartatez directed police commanders in urban areas and tourism hubs to implement appropriate security measures and submit reports on possible adjustments in personnel deployment.

The PNP is also closely coordinating with the Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in anticipation of an increased volume of commuters at transport terminals during the holiday rush.

According to Nartatez, the PNP is also preparing for major events in the coming months, including the Feast of the Black Nazarene in January and the anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution in February.
