The Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) denied that they have received any arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) against Sen. Bong Go, contradicting claims posted online by Davao City Rep. Paolo Duterte.
In a text message to the PNP Press Corps, Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla said he immediately coordinated with Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida regarding the claim, but stressed that no copy of any warrant has been received by authorities.
For its part, the Philippine National Police said it remains ready to act on any legitimate warrant issued by competent authorities, but emphasized that no official communication or documentation has been received.
The clarification came after Duterte on Wednesday alleged that the ICC had issued a warrant for Go and two unnamed former police officials.
“A highly reliable source informed me that ICC arrest warrants against Senator Bong Go and two former police officers have already been issued,” Duterte said on his online statement.
Furthermore, PNP Public Information Office acting chief PCol. Allen Rae Co said the police force would comply with its mandate once a valid warrant is formally served.
He added that the police remain “competent” and committed to enforcing the law in accordance with existing legal procedures.
