The Philippine National Police (PNP) denied reports that authorities were preparing to arrest Sen. Ronald dela Rosa on Wednesday afternoon following speculation surrounding a possible implementation of an International Criminal Court (ICC)-linked warrant.
The clarification came after Dela Rosa revealed in a Facebook Live broadcast that he had received information about a possible arrest operation allegedly involving the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and personnel from the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) after the Senate session.
However, in a brief message to DZRH, PNP spokesperson Randulf Tuaño denied the reports, while Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla likewise said there were no preparations from either the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) or the PNP regarding any arrest operation.
The development follows earlier remarks from NBI Director Melvin Matibag stating that authorities could implement a warrant “anytime” during the day.
The PNP previously maintained that it is awaiting proper legal processes before taking action on any ICC-related warrant, including extradition proceedings backed by a court order and formal action through INTERPOL.
Meanwhile, reports also circulated regarding heightened media presence at Villamor Air Base, the same military facility previously linked to the transfer of former president Rodrigo Duterte to The Hague following his ICC-related arrest.
