Chief Master Sgt. Jenifer Bredico, driver of a Philippine National Police (PNP) coaster involved in a collision with an EDSA Carousel bus on April 17, has publicly apologized for the incident, admitting fault in the improper entry of the vehicle into the bus lane.
In a statement, Bredico expressed remorse to the public and to bus driver Jessie Soledad, acknowledging that his actions led to the traffic incident that caused damage to both vehicles.
“Humihingi po ako ng taos-pusong pasensya sa nagawa kong kamalian… Inaamin ko na mali yung pagka-swerving ng sasakyan,” Bredico said.
He explained that the incident happened while he was assigned to a Department of Transportation (DOTr) free ride program, saying his intent was to pick up passengers when he mistakenly entered the bus lane, resulting in a minor collision and vehicle scratches.
Bredico also expressed disappointment over the negative reactions online following the incident, saying that their work as transport personnel often involves early hours and significant sacrifice to serve commuters.
“Madaling araw pa lang, nandiyan na kami sa lansangan para lang makapagserbisyo,” he added.
The incident drew public attention after CCTV footage of the collision circulated online, prompting scrutiny of road discipline and the conduct of personnel involved in government transport initiatives.
Authorities are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the incident as part of an ongoing investigation by relevant agencies.
