Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief PGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil has ordered the dismissal of the police officers who were seen accompanying Davao City 1st District Rep. Paolo "Pulong" Duterte in a viral video showing him involved in a physical altercation at a bar in Davao City.
During an ambush interview on Wednesday, Marbil stated that he is also seeking the dismissal of the commanders of the two police officers seen acting as bodyguards for the politician.
"Hindi po mangyayari ang moonlighting kung hindi po dadayain ang report nila. So ‘yung dalawa na iyon na nag-mo-moonlighting sa Davao, expect po ‘yung mga Commanders nila will be discharged," said Marbil.
In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa, it was revealed that based on information obtained by DZRH, the officers caught on CCTV were reportedly AWOL and held the ranks of Police Executive Master Sergeant and Police Staff Sergeant.
Furthermore, the two officers were found to be assigned to different police stations within the jurisdiction of the Davao City Police Office.
The pre-charge investigation has officially begun over their alleged administrative offense of grave irregularities in the performance of duty.
Besides the two police officers, the other two individuals seen escorting Duterte were identified as personnel of the Philippine Air Force.
Duterte is facing a complaint for physical injuries and grave threats, filed by a Davao City-based businessman before the Department of Justice (DOJ) in connection with the incident.
