The Philippine National Police (PNP) is awaiting the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to the recommendation to declare a failure of election in the 12 barangays in Tubaran, Lanao del Sur.
According to Police Major General Valeriano de Leon of the directorate for operations, the decision is already at the hands of the Comelec.
The PNP is ready to give security and assistance to the Comelec and Department of Education (DepEd) if ever they will conduct a special election.
According to de Leon, there is a failure of election in the area since there are 12 barangays that failed to conduct an election due to misunderstanding between the candidates and their local Comelec.
De Leon personally visited the area to see the situation on the ground.
On the side of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), it was formerly stated by Brig. Gen. Jose Maria Cuerpo II of the 103rd infantry brigade of the AFP that they have recommended the failure of election in the 12 barangays of Tubaran, Lanao del Sur.
"Barangays na hindi nakaboto kaya ang ating Comelec is likely will conduct a special election. Sila naman ang may call dito. Sa pagkakaalam ko out of 21 barangays 12 barangays ang hindi nakaboto," said de Leon.
