The Philippine National Police (PNP) has assured Vice President Sara Duterte and her family of continued protection amid concerns she raised over her safety.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the police force is prepared to address and assess the Vice President’s security concerns through professional, impartial, and non-partisan service.
Nartatez said the PNP is acting in line with the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Department of the Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla to properly implement court orders and protect everyone without political considerations.
The PNP chief also said the police respect Duterte’s concerns for her safety and that of her family after the Vice President publicly expressed that she no longer feels safe and is worried about the security of her children.
Nartatez emphasized that the PNP remains committed to the rule of law, saying public trust depends on consistent action, integrity, and adherence to established standards.
The statement came after Duterte posted bail on Saturday in connection with three counts of grave threats filed by the Department of Justice (DOJ).
The PNP is encouraging the Vice President to submit any documents or information related to the alleged threats for proper verification. Relevant police units have likewise been directed to continue monitoring and conducting threat assessments to ensure the safety and security of the country’s second-highest official.
The police assurance comes as authorities continue to assess the reported security concerns surrounding the Vice President and her family while ensuring that protective measures remain in accordance with the law.
