The Philippine National Police (PNP) assured that it is not covering up for any entity in their investigation into the deaths of Ateneo Blue Eagle players Rene Baterbonia and Divine Adili, according to a Wednesday report.

According to PNP Acting Spokesperson PCol. Allen Rae Co, the PNP - Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) needs to complete the investigation before they can name the negligent party, reported RH 52 Edniel Parrosa

The Dipaculao, Aurora resort management told authorities that they had warned the team to remain in a certain area for their safety, but that the group insisted that the management not interfere with their private activity.

The autopsies revealed that Baterbonia, 19, died of asphyxia due to drowning. Meanwhile, the remains of Adili, 21, will be flown back to Nigeria.

The sports community is grieving the loss of these two young players, and is slated to hold a sports stakeholder panel led by the Philippine Sports Commission.
