The Philippine National Police - Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG) warned the public against the possible resurgence of scams ahead of the approaching vacation season.
Based on data from January to February, authorities have recorded 29 cases of online fraud, such as those involving fake resorts and accommodations, reported RH 52 Edniel Parrosa on Wednesday.
PNP-ACG Spokesperson PLt. Wallen Mae Arancillo explained that these scammers would lift media shared by legitimate vacation spots and advertise them at low prices.
Earlier, the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) released advisories warning against individuals impersonating Vice President Sara Duterte and Interior Secretary Jonvic Remulla, respectively.
