More than 600,000 passengers have passed through the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) this holiday season, as reported by RH Jecelle Ricafort.
According to authorities, yesterday, the terminal recorded around 201,000 passengers, but by 9:00 a.m. today, the number had jumped to over 430,000.
Security at the terminal remains strict, with K9 units stationed at entrances to inspect passengers’ luggage.
More than 10 personnel are deployed at the terminal entrances to ensure travel safety. The number of trips is expected to increase further tomorrow as more travelers return to their home provinces for the holidays.
Several trips from Metro Manila to Bicol and northern provinces are already fully booked. Prohibited items are being confiscated at the terminal, with around 300 items seized so far, including knives and lighters.
Authorities expect over 3 million passengers to use PITX from December 19 to January 5.
Bus companies interviewed by Ricafort assured that they can accommodate walk-in passengers. Some operators, such as Exodus Bus, are deploying additional buses, while others have reached capacity and are no longer accepting walk-ins.
