The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) is preparing for a surge of holiday travelers as provincial buses get fully booked ahead of the Christmas break, according to Atty. Jason Salvador, Head of Corporate Affairs and Government Relations. In an exclusive interview on DZRH’s Damdaming Bayan, Salvador said they are expecting “millions of passengers” to flock to the terminal in the coming weeks.

“Talagang ramdam na natin ang Kapaskuhan dito sa PITX… marami na talagang nagtutungo sa kanilang mga probinsya,” Salvador said, noting that additional units have been coordinated with stakeholders to accommodate demand during the holiday rush. He added that the LTFRB is ready to issue special permits even on the day of travel, should more buses be needed.

Salvador assured passengers that despite buses being fully booked, PITX has standby additional units, particularly for high-demand routes like Bicol. However, he reminded last-minute travelers to expect longer queues. “Meron at meron po silang masasakyan… pero magbaon tayo ng konting pasensya,” he said.

Chance passengers may also wait comfortably inside PITX, which offers free Wi-Fi, shops, and capsule hotels for those spending the night to catch early-morning trips. Meanwhile, Salvador emphasized the “three S”—safety, security, and supply as the focus of their operations, ensuring buses are roadworthy and drivers are fit for long trips.

He also warned against colorum vehicles and unapproved fare surges. “Huwag po nating tangkilikin ito… make sure na yung pampublikong sasakyan lang ang ating gamitin,” Salvador said, urging the public to report illegal operators so authorities can act immediately.
