The Pistons built control early and maintained composure down the stretch, holding off a late Cavaliers push behind balanced scoring and timely defense.

Detroit opened strong with a 37–21 first quarter advantage and carried a 59–46 lead into halftime. Cleveland showed more resistance in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to 83–76, but the Pistons closed out the game with steady execution in the fourth.

Cunningham led Detroit with 23 points, 7 assists, and 2 steals, steering the offense throughout the contest. Tobias Harris added 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 steals, while Duncan Robinson contributed 19 points, including five three-pointers and 2 steals.

The Cavaliers were unable to complete the comeback despite cutting the margin to single digits late in the third quarter.

Detroit now takes momentum into Game 2 of the series with a 1–0 advantage.
