A pilot is facing investigation and the suspension of his driver’s license after allegedly threatening a couple with a firearm during a dispute over a parking space at a mall parking area in Mandaluyong City.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) immediately issued a Show Cause Order (SCO) against the pilot-driver following the circulation of a viral video on social media showing the confrontation. Based on the agency’s initial investigation, the incident stemmed from an argument between the pilot and another motorist over a parking slot.
Authorities said the pilot allegedly drew and waved a firearm at a couple involved in the dispute while they were recording the incident, prompting concerns over road rage and public safety.
After identifying both the driver and the registered owner of the vehicle, the LTO ordered them to appear before its Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID) and submit sworn statements regarding the incident and possible violations.
The pilot was likewise directed to explain why his driver’s license should not be suspended or revoked for being an “Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.”
LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II Lacanilao stressed that aggressive and threatening behavior has no place among motorists.
“Any form of intimidation, violence, or aggressive behavior among motorists is unacceptable and contrary to the principles that every responsible vehicle operator should uphold. Every license holder is expected to demonstrate discipline, self-restraint, and respect for others at all times,” Lacanilao said.
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the LTO ordered the immediate surrender of the pilot’s driver’s license and imposed a 90-day preventive suspension. The vehicle involved was also placed under alarm status, preventing any transaction with the agency while the case remains under review.
The LTO reminded the public that no individual, regardless of profession or social status, is above the law, emphasizing that respect, self-control, and responsible conduct remain essential both on the road and in public spaces.
