The Philippines will welcome the pilgrim image of Our Lady of Guadalupe from Mexico later this year, marking a key step toward the 500th anniversary of the Marian apparitions in 2031.

The Association of Catholic Shrines and Pilgrimages in the Philippines (ACSP) said the image will travel to selected cathedrals and parishes from June to December 2026, as part of the Novena Intercontinental Guadalupana, a worldwide devotional program running through 2031.

The visit is part of a broader partnership with the Mexican Bishops’ Conference to promote the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe, observed each December 12.

ACSP plans to produce educational materials, organize national congresses on Guadalupan devotion, and arrange pilgrimages to Mexico and Spain.

The program also seeks to connect Philippine shrines with a global network of Guadalupan sites, while a historical book on the devotion in the Philippines is set for completion by 2031.
