Tropical Depression Pilandok is forecast to intensify into a tropical storm on Tuesday, September 1, and is expected to remain as a tropical storm as it moves toward southern Japan, the PAGASA said.

As of 5:00 PM on Monday, August 31, Pilandok maintained its strength as it moved north northwestward. The center of the tropical depression was located at 1,145 km east of Extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 55 km/h near the center, gustiness of up to 70 km/h, and a central pressure of 1000 hPa.

It is currently moving north northwestward at 10 km/h.

No Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals (TCWS) are in effect as of writing.

The state weather bureau said Pilandok may become almost stationary over the Philippine Sea east of Extreme Northern Luzon for the next 36 hours before moving generally north northwestward for the remainder of the forecast period.

It may exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Wednesday (September 2) afternoon or evening.

According to PAGASA, it is less likely to make landfall over the country and will remain far from the Philippine landmass. However, the state weather bureau said the forecast track is highly uncertain and may change in the succeeding bulletins.

Based on its 2:00 PM bulletin, two tropical depressions are being monitored outside PAR. Tropical Depression Saudel was located at 1,175 km west of Extreme Northern Luzon. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km/h and gustiness of up to 75 km/h.

According to PAGASA, its movement is almost stationary.

Meanwhile, the second tropical depression was located 570 km west northwest of Itbayat, Batanes. It has maximum sustained winds of 45 km and gustiness of up to 60 km/h. Its movement is also almost stationary.

Additionally, LPA 08m is also being monitored outside PAR and has a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.
