The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded around 400 aftershocks following a series of earthquakes that jolted the coastal town of Kalamansig, triggering panic and preemptive evacuations among residents.

The initial tremor, a magnitude 3.4 earthquake, was first felt at 7:51 p.m., followed by successive weak to moderate aftershocks that continued until around 11 p.m. PHIVOLCS reported that the tremors were also felt in nearby coastal towns, including Sta. Clara, Palimbang, and Lebak.

Data showed at least 135 plotted earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 1.5 to 5.2, while 20 ground-shaking events with recorded intensities were documented. Despite authorities assuring the public that no tsunami threat was detected, many residents evacuated their homes out of fear of a stronger quake.

Local government units implemented preemptive evacuation measures, with some residents seen moving to higher ground as a precaution. Sultan Kudarat Governor Datu Pax Ali S. Mangudadatu ordered the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to coordinate closely with concerned agencies and LGUs.

Emergency equipment from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and ambulances have been placed on standby as authorities continue to monitor the seismic activity and prepare for possible emergencies.
