The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) assured the public that the country’s national security remains stable despite recent developments in the Middle East.
According to the AFP, security operations across the archipelago continue uninterrupted, and there is no perceived threat to Philippine territory.
“There is currently no credible direct threat to Philippine territory or to Filipino and foreign national in the country,” the statement said.
The military also warned citizens to exercise caution against potential disinformation and advised relying only on official government sources for updates. The statement came in the wake of Iran firing missiles at U.S. military positions in the Gulf region, reportedly in retaliation for the U.S.-Israel strike last Saturday.
“The AFP stands ready to augment possible repatriation and crisis response efforts for Filipinos in affected areas, when directed.”
Social media narratives have circulated about potential risks allegedly posed by the nine Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites shared between Philippine and U.S. forces.
The Department of National Defense (DND) previously condemned these narratives as causing unnecessary panic, emphasizing that their focus remains on supporting the AFP in humanitarian and evacuation operations if needed in the Middle East.
