Philippine Red Cross on high alert this Holy Week
by Luwela Amor31 March 2026

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) has been placed on high alert status in observance of the Holy Week, with heightened operations set to continue until April 5, 2026.

In a report by RH Edniel Parrosa on DZRH's Magandang Umaga Pilipinas (MUP) on Tuesday, the organization expects a surge of travelers heading to tourist destinations, provinces, transport hubs, and other public areas despite the continued rise in petroleum prices.

According to the PRC, a total of 2,224 personnel have been deployed nationwide. These teams are stationed across 226 first aid stations and 113 welfare desks.

In addition, ambulances, patrol teams, and other emergency vehicles have been strategically positioned in key locations, including churches and major public areas.

As of 12 noon on Monday, the PRC reported that it has already assisted a total of 582 individuals during its Holy Week 2026 operations.

PRC Chairman and former senator Richard Gordon urged the public to immediately call the 143 hotline in case of any emergency to ensure prompt assistance.

Meanwhile, PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang reminded travelers to make sure their vehicles are in good condition and to prepare first aid kits and essential supplies before embarking on their trips.
