

The Philippine Army’s 11th Infantry Battalion (11IB) successfully recovered several high-caliber guns from the New People’s Army (NPA) on August 8 in Sitio Purok, Barangay Mantiquil, Siaton, Negros Oriental.
The operation was immediately launched after a tip-off from a concerned citizen, which prompted the authorities to locate the whereabouts of the hidden weapons.
The arms cache contained five high-powered firearms, three M16 assault rifles, two M14 assault rifles, seven M14 magazines, and other war materiel were seized in the operation.
The Commander of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division, Major General Michael G. Samson, praised the Lapu-Lapu troopers for the accomplished operation and for being committed to the mission.
Moreover, the Philippine Army stressed that the recovery of firearms marks a significant blow to the communist terrorist movement in Negros Island.
