The Philippine Army has confirmed the death of two enlisted personnel following an armed encounter with Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) members in Barangay Babaclayon, San Jose de Buan, Samar on December 3, 2025.
“The Philippine Army mourns the loss of two enlisted personnel… We extend our heartfelt condolences to their families and assure them of the Army's full support during this difficult time,” said Army Commanding General Lt. Gen. Antonio in a press statement.
He honored the fallen soldiers, stating they “served with courage and dedication,” adding that “their sacrifice will not be forgotten.”
Meanwhile, Nafarrete said security operations will continue to ensure the protection of local communities.
Calling on remaining CPP-NPA members to abandon their armed struggle, Nafarrete stressed: “We will have no let up as troops continue to track down and pursue Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) remnants.” He reiterated that the Philippine Army “remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding our people and working toward lasting peace.”
