The Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) will be having their three-leg free concert outside of Metro Manila, having their first stops in Guimaras on January 11 and in Iloilo City on January 13 and 14.
In an interview on Tuesday, co-chairperson of the Iloilo Dinagyang Festival Gabriel Felix Umadhay said that the free concert allows their city to be the center of tourism activities in the entire Philippines.
He added that they will showcase their city's preparedness for meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions (MICE), as well as tourism activities, its historical beauty, and the local government unit's support in the same events.
The concert was through the invitation of former senator Franklin Drilon and the city government through Mayor Jerry Treñas and the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc.
The concert will happen at the Iloilo Convention Center on January 13 and at the Plaza Libertad the next day, which are both open to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.
Meanwhile, in Guimaras, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra will serenade its people at the Guimaras Museum Grounds in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan town at 7:00 p.m.
For Governor JC Rahman Nava, it will also serve as an opportunity for Guimaras to promote itself as an events and agri-tourism destination as it aims to bring music closer to the people.
The 70-to-80-member chorale under the baton of Maestro Herminigildo Ranera will showcase a repertoire consisting of classical, Broadway, kundiman, and other popular Filipino songs.
They will also be joined by tenors and sopranos of Iloilo City-based chorale groups.
