A state procurement official testified Tuesday that GenCorp Industries, Inc. was awarded 49 contracts by three government entities, as the prosecution panel continued presenting evidence in the impeachment trial of the Vice President.

Taking the stand on the 28th day of the trial, Philippine Government Electronic Procurement System (PhilGEPS) Division Chief Rendell Sopeña confirmed the procurement records under questioning from lead prosecutor Gerville Luistro.

“Binanggit po ninyo na sa inyong pagse-search ay nakita niyo ang 49 awarded contracts sa Gencorp Industries Incorporated. Sino-sino po ang mga procuring entity?” Luistro asked.

“The composition of the 49 awarded contracts are OWWA, meron pong isang contract na na-award sa OWWA, meron pong 33 contracts awarded [by] PhilHealth Region 11, and 15 awarded contracts [by] City of Davao,” Sopeña replied.

According to the testimony, the awarded contracts comprise:

• 33 contracts with PhilHealth Region XI

• 15 contracts with the Davao City local government unit

• 1 contract with Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Region XI

The presentation of evidence on Tuesday forms part of the prosecution's case on Article II of the impeachment charges, which accuses Duterte of unexplained wealth.
