The Philippines finished 17th overall in the final medal standings of the 20th Asian Games after collecting four golds, nine silvers and 16 bronzes for a total of 29 medals.

The 2026 haul surpassed the country's performance in the previous Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, where Team Philippines won four golds, two silvers and 12 bronzes, also finishing 17th in the medal rankings.

Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman Patrick “Pato” Gregorio described the campaign as the country's “best finish” in the Asian Games in the past 64 years, despite falling short of the target of eight gold medals.

The Philippines last won more gold medals in 1962 in Jakarta, Indonesia, when it collected seven golds, six silvers and 24 bronzes.

Gymnastics led the country's gold-medal campaign with two golds and one bronze. Taekwondo contributed one gold, three silvers and one bronze, while athletics added one gold and two bronzes.

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) produced one silver and one bronze, while sepak takraw contributed one silver and one bronze.

The Philippines' nine silver medals also matched its modern-era record of nine silvers set at the 1970 Asian Games in Bangkok.

Gregorio said Filipino athletes who won medals in the Aichi-Nagoya Games will receive a combined ₱35 million in incentives.

The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), meanwhile, hailed the country's performance as one of its most prolific campaigns in the modern era as the Asian Games concluded Sunday night at the Nagoya City Mizuho Park Athletics Stadium.

The closing ceremony also marked the formal handover of the Asian Games to Doha, Qatar, which will host the 21st edition of the continental sports event in 2030.

Taekwondo double medalist Jeus Gabriel Derick Yape carried the Philippine flag and led the Filipino delegation during the closing ceremony parade.

With the Aichi-Nagoya Games now concluded, Team Philippines turns its attention to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and the 2030 Asian Games in Doha.
