Filipino weightlifter Albert Ian Delos Santos swept the men’s 70-kilogram junior category with three gold medals while setting new Asian and world junior records at the 2026 Asian Junior and Youth Weightlifting Championships on Tuesday.
The 20-year-old Delos Santos topped the snatch, clean and jerk and total lift events, highlighted by a 180-kilogram clean and jerk that established a new junior world record. He also registered 141 kilograms in the snatch for a combined total of 321 kilograms.
His performances added to an impressive year for Delos Santos, who in May won two gold medals and broke his own world junior record at the 2026 IWF World Junior Championships in Ismailia, Egypt.
Delos Santos won the men’s 71-kilogram division at the world junior championships after lifting a world-record 187 kilograms in the clean and jerk.
He had previously set the junior world record at 185 kilograms in the clean and jerk while winning silver in the 71-kilogram event at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in December.
