PH unemployment rate drops to 4.4% in November 2025
by Luwela Amor07 January 2026

The Philippines’ unemployment rate fell to 4.4% in November 2025, a decrease from 5.0% recorded in October 2025, according to the latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

This translates to a reduction of approximately 290,000 unemployed individuals, from 2.54 million in October to 2.25 million. However, the number of unemployed workers remains over half a million higher than the 1.66 million reported in the same month in 2024, as reported by DZRH TV reporter Dustin Bayog.

According to PSA Undersecretary Dennis Mapa, while employment increased in some sectors, the growth was not observed across all industries during the November period. He cited Typhoon Tino, Uwan and heavy rains in November as factors that affected employment, particularly in the restaurant and food services sector and retail trade.

Meanwhile, the number of underemployed workers—those seeking additional work hours—also declined to 10.4% or 5.11 million from 12% in October.

The PSA report also highlighted an overall increase in the number of employed Filipinos and business owners in November compared to the same period last year.

The employment rate rose to 95.6%, equivalent to 49.26 million workers, up from 48.62 million in October.

The services sector remained the largest contributor to employment, accounting for 62.1%, followed by the agriculture and industry sectors.
