The Philippines has been awarded hosting rights for the 2029 FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Championship, the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) and Volleyball World announced on Sunday before the final of the Men’s World Championship at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

As host nation, the Philippines’ national women’s volleyball team, Alas Pilipinas, will secure an automatic slot in the prestigious tournament.

It will be the first time the Women’s World Championship will be staged in the Philippines, a country noted for its strong volleyball following.

The decision comes as the country wraps up its hosting of the Men’s World Championship 2025, which has drawn praise for its organization, hospitality, and enthusiastic fans.

The announcement follows confirmation that the United States and Canada will co-host the Women’s World Championship in 2027, while Qatar will stage the Men’s edition in 2029.

The FIVB World Championships are the premier events in international volleyball, contested by 32 teams across 64 matches over 17 days.

The competition shifted to a biennial schedule in 2023, with the women’s tournament held in Thailand and the men’s in the Philippines this year.
