The Philippine Mixed Relay duathlon team showcased determination and skill as they secured the silver medal at the 33rd SEA Games in Leam Mae Phim.
The team, composed of Merry Joy Trupa, Franklin Ferdie Yee, Erika Nicole Burgos, and Patrick Ciron, finished just two seconds behind Indonesia, who took the gold with a time of 23:16. Their performance represents a significant improvement from the 2019 SEA Games, where the Philippines earned bronze in the same event.
The race proved physically demanding, testing the athletes’ endurance and coordination across each leg of the relay.
Despite the challenging course and intense competition, the Philippine squad maintained a strong pace, demonstrating both resilience and strategic teamwork.
This silver medal finish reflects the team’s growth over the past six years and cements the Philippines’ position as a rising contender in Southeast Asian duathlon events. The result provides a solid foundation for the team to build on in future competitions.
