The country's inflation holds steady at 1.7% on October, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The country’s inflation rate—or the pace at which prices of goods and services rise—stayed at 1.7% in October 2025, the same level as in September, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA). This means that overall prices barely changed in the past month.

The average inflation for the first ten months of the year also remained at 1.7%, well within the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) target range of 1.4% to 2.2%.

PSA chief Dennis Mapa said slower increases in food prices helped keep inflation steady. Prices of vegetables, meat, eggs, and dairy products rose more slowly, while fruits actually became cheaper compared to last year.

Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan said the stable inflation shows that government efforts to keep enough food supply and control prices are working.

However, he said authorities remain alert to possible price increases caused by bad weather or changes in global markets.

In the National Capital Region (NCR), inflation slightly rose to 2.9% in October from 2.7% in September due to higher housing and utility costs. In areas outside NCR, inflation slowed to 1.3% from 1.5%.

For the poorest 30% of households, inflation even dropped to -0.4%, meaning prices slightly went down for basic goods they usually buy.

Core inflation, which excludes items with big price swings like food and fuel, also went down to 2.5% from 2.6%.

The BSP said inflation is expected to stay manageable, though possible electricity rate hikes and rice tariff changes could cause slight increases.

The central bank added that while low inflation supports its move to lower interest rates, slower demand and weaker business confidence may affect economic growth in the coming months.
