Inflation in the Philippines accelerated to 7.8% in October 2026, its highest level in the period covered by the latest data, driven mainly by faster increases in transport and housing-related costs, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The October rate was up from 7.2% in September and significantly higher than the 1.7% recorded in October 2025.

This brought the country's average inflation rate from January to October 2026 to 5.6%, the PSA said.

Transport recorded the fastest annual price increase among major commodity groups, rising to 20.1% in October from 14.6% in September.

Prices in housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels also increased at a faster pace, with inflation reaching 9.3% from 8.4% in the previous month.

The PSA also reported faster price increases in alcoholic beverages and tobacco, clothing and footwear, household furnishings and equipment, health, recreation, restaurants and accommodation services, and personal care.

Meanwhile, inflation in food and non-alcoholic beverages slowed to 6.1% in October from 6.7% in September.

Despite the slowdown, food and non-alcoholic beverages remained the biggest contributor to overall inflation, accounting for 30.2% or 2.4 percentage points of the October rate.

Housing-related costs followed with a 24.8% share, equivalent to 1.9 percentage points, while transport accounted for 23.5%, or 1.8 percentage points.

The PSA said the three commodity groups accounted for the largest shares of the country's overall inflation in October.
