Right after the opening ceremony at the Rajamangala Stadium, the crowd eagerly waited to see which athlete would secure the Philippines’ first medal of the Games.
That moment came from John Derick Farr, the country’s bet in the men’s mountain bike downhill event held at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Chonburi. Farr delivered a strong performance and clinched the first medal for the Philippines, finishing in third place.
Farr clocked two minutes and 43.676 seconds, earning him the bronze. The event was topped by Thailand’s Methasit Boonsane, who secured gold with a time of 2:37.856.
