The Philippines’ Blu Girls staged a late comeback to upset world No. 3 Puerto Rico, 5-4, before absorbing a 5-0 loss to Great Britain on Day 3 of the 2026 WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup.

Trailing 4-1, the Filipinas mounted a decisive rally behind key hits from Alyssa Daniell and Nicole Hammoude, turning the game around to secure their first win of the tournament.

Hammoude delivered in crucial moments as the Blu Girls capitalized on timely offense to stun one of the competition’s top-ranked teams.

The victory provided a much-needed boost for the Philippines, which has struggled early in the tournament.

In their second game of the day, however, the Blu Girls were held scoreless by world No. 12 Great Britain. The match remained tight through three innings before the British squad broke the deadlock in the fourth and steadily pulled away to complete the shutout.

With the split results, the Philippines now holds a 1-3 record in the opening round.

Hammoude was named the team’s player of the day following her pivotal role in the comeback win over Puerto Rico.

The Blu Girls will look to build momentum when they face winless host Peru to close out the opening round.
