A ₱60 daily wage increase for minimum wage earners in Metro Manila took effect Saturday, Sept. 26, under Wage Order No. NCR-28 issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-NCR.

The order, issued Sept. 11, raises the daily minimum wage for workers in the non-agricultural sector to ₱755.

Workers in the agricultural sector, service and retail establishments with 15 or fewer employees, and manufacturing firms with fewer than 10 workers will have a new daily minimum wage of ₱718.

The latest wage order follows the suspension of Wage Order No. NCR-27, which granted an ₱85 daily wage increase in the National Capital Region. Its implementation was halted after the Pasig City Regional Trial Court issued an injunction sought by several construction firms.

Some labor unions have said they will pursue a petition before the Supreme Court seeking to reinstate the ₱85 wage increase under the earlier order.
