About ₱3.713 billion in public funds has been spent on completed, ongoing and suspended Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control and multipurpose projects along the Laguna Lakeshore reclamation areas in Taguig City, Sen. Panfilo “Ping” Lacson said Monday.

In a social media post, Lacson said the amount was based on official records and an investigation into projects implemented along what he described as the “illegal” Laguna Lakeshore reclamation areas.

Lacson said the figure does not include other Slope Protection and Flood Mitigation projects along the Taguig River.

He alleged that some of these projects involved double appropriations and “ghost” projects, with recycled photographs allegedly used in different completed projects for billing purposes.

“These do not include other anomalous Slope Protection and Flood Mitigation projects along Taguig river involving double appropriations and ‘ghost’ projects using recycled photographs in different ‘completed’ projects, for billing purposes,” Lacson said.

Lacson said the findings would be submitted to the Office of the Ombudsman’s fact-finding team for appropriate action.

“Everything goes to the Ombudsman fact-finding team for proper disposition,” he said.

The senator's post came amid scrutiny of flood control and reclamation-related projects in Taguig City.
