The Philippine National Police (PNP) has launched an investigation following the voluntary surrender of five tape-sealed plastic bags containing a white crystalline substance suspected to be cocaine in Patnanungan on Friday, May 16.

According to police reports, a 52-year-old resident of Barangay Busdak turned over the sealed bags to the Patnanungan Municipal Police Station.

Authorities said the recovered substances weighed approximately 6,514.7 grams with an estimated standard drug price of ₱34.5 million.

Police immediately secured the suspected illegal drugs and initiated proper evidence-handling procedures.

The items are set to be submitted to the Quezon Provincial Forensic Unit for laboratory examination to confirm their chemical composition and determine whether the substance is indeed cocaine.

The PNP said investigators are now working to trace the origin of the suspected narcotics, identify possible individuals or groups connected to the shipment, and determine how the illegal substances came into the possession of the resident who surrendered them.
