Police have found a person of interest in the killing of a security guard in the municipality of Villaba, Leyte.

Alias “Addie” was a security guard for the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) field office in Villaba. According to police investigation, he was shot in the head while seated in the NIA guardhouse at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, reported RH 32 Jimmy Angay-angay.

At present, the police have found a witness to the killing, although s/he is afraid to give an account for their security.

In an interview, Villaba, Leyte Police Chief PCPT Realthur S. Tabernero said investigators are looking into the possibility that the closure of the road behind the NIA office angered individuals who intended to pass through the area, potentially leading to the attack on the victim.
