A woman died after being struck by an SUV while crossing a major roadway in Tondo, Manila, on Friday morning, police said.

According to a report by Boy Gonzales, the incident occurred along Mel Lopez Boulevard on May 1, 2026, when the victim was crossing the road from west to east and was hit by a Toyota Rush SUV traveling northbound near the corner of Pacheco Street.

The impact of the collision threw the victim onto the concrete pavement, resulting in fatal injuries. She was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities took the driver into custody as investigators continue to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash, including possible violations and contributing factors.
