The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed illegal drugs valued at over ₱4.56 billion on Tuesday, March 24, at the Integrated Waste Management Inc. (IWMI) in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City, Cavite.

The dangerous drugs—1,136.5521 kilograms of solid drugs and 657.1300 milliliters of liquid drugs, all worth ₱4,563,517,903.02—were destroyed through thermal decomposition or thermolysis.

Following strict security protocols, the agency said, the illegal substances were placed inside a high-capacity incinerator and will be destroyed beyond recovery within 24 hours.

This included 555.2393 kilograms of methamphetamine hydrochloride, better known as “shabu”; 442.9399 kilograms of marijuana also called “kush”; 1.6651 kilograms of MDMA or ecstasy; 117.3860 kilograms of cocaine; 15.8149 kilograms of ephedrine; and 0.5070 kilograms of ketamine.

Among the liquid substances were amphetamine, liquid meth, marijuana, toluene, and various other expired medicines.

These were seized from numerous anti-drug operations carried out by the PDEA, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, and surrendered in compliance with court orders for destruction. Moreover, of this amount, over 43,000 grams of marijuana and over 102,000 grams of cocaine were discovered floating along the shorelines of Palawan.

“PDEA is relentless not only in seizing these substances but also in ensuring that once they are taken off the streets, they are permanently destroyed,” PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani Nerez said.

Other PDEA Regional Offices are also ensuring the proper disposal of prohibited substances within their respective jurisdictions.
