The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) contributes P15 to P16 billion in taxes every year while also allocating a significant portion of its charity funds to government programs, including 40 percent for Universal Health Care through PhilHealth, PCSO General Manager Melquiades Robles said on Thursday.

In an interview on Dos Por Dos, Robles explained that the agency’s taxes include documentary stamp taxes, corporate income tax, and the 20 percent levy on lottery ticket sales and winnings. An additional P1.5 billion is remitted annually to the National Treasury.

Robles said that aside from Universal Health Care, PCSO funds also support programs mandated by law, such as those under the Commission on Higher Education and other social services.

Remaining funds continue to support medical assistance, hospital programs, and local government initiatives.

He also noted that the agency recently achieved a 100.6 percent rating from the Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG), reflecting compliance with performance and governance standards.
