The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) is set to refer a complaint to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) against a Facebook page and a website accused of spreading fake news, according to Palace Press Office Usec. Claire Castro.
In a press briefing at Malacañáng on Thursday, Castro said the complaint will be referred to the NBI’s Anti-Fake News Desk.
“Nakatakdang mag-refer ng complaint ang PCO to the Anti-Fake News Desk sa NBI laban sa isang Facebook page at isang website na nagpapakalat ng fake news,” Castro said.
The move comes as the government continues its efforts to address the spread of false information online.
Castro did not disclose the identities of the Facebook page and website involved.
She said the PCO would release their names after the complaints have been formally filed with the NBI.
