The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has adopted a temporary hybrid work arrangement in line with President Ferdinand 'Bongbong' Marcos Jr.'s directive to promote energy conservation and reduce fuel consumption amid rising global oil prices caused by the ongoing Middle East crisis.

Based on a memorandum dated March 8 signed by PCO Acting Secretary Dave Gomez, effective this week, all PCO personnel are required to report onsite from Monday to Thursday, while Fridays have been designated as a work-from-home (WFH) day, except for output-based Contract of Service (COS) employees, as reported by RH Leth Narciso on DZRH's Rapido Hataw Balita.

It implements the directive of Marcos Jr., which calls on all executive offices to adopt energy conservation and efficiency measures in government operations.

Under the new hybrid work schedule, employees must complete a total of 40 working hours per week.

Onsite workdays will follow staggered schedules, ranging from 7:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., depending on individual assignments. Personnel arriving after 9:30 a.m. will be considered late.

Cluster heads and supervisors are required to submit monthly work programs to serve as a guide for tasks and outputs on WFH days.

"Attendance and productivity will be monitored through the digital attendance system managed by the Information and Communications Technology Division," the PCO added.

Marcos issued Memorandum Circular No. 114 on March 6, directing executive branch offices to adopt a four-day workweek, which took effect three days later.
