The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) technical divers continue their underwater operations as part of the Search and Rescue mission for the sunken RORO vessel MV Trisha Kerstin 3 this Saturday, February 7, following the improvement of weather and sea conditions in the area.
In a statement on February 7, the PCG said its Technical Divers, led by Commander Cheska Jamorol, conducted an external scan of the submerged vessel upon the resumption of operations.
The assessment aimed to determine the vessel’s current condition and identify possible points of entry.
According to the PCG, the external scanning is a critical preparatory step to ensure the safety of divers before conducting any penetration dives inside the wreck.
The PCG further assured the public that all ongoing operations are being carried out with the utmost caution and in strict adherence to established safety protocols.
As of the latest update, the number of survivors remains at 316, while the confirmed death toll stands at 45.
