The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued six passengers from a capsized motor banca off the coast of Barangay Pura, Datu Blah Sinsuat, Maguindanao del Norte on Thursday.

Upon receiving a report from a concerned citizen regarding the incident, the PCG promptly carried out a search and rescue operation.

According to an initial investigation, the vessel was heading to Barangay Nalkan when powerful waves damaged its left outrigger, causing it to capsize.

All six of the boat’s passengers were brought to safety. They were taken to the Rural Health Unit for medical assessment and later discharged in stable condition.

PCG Commandant Admiral Ronnie Gil Gavan commended the responding personnel for their “swift and coordinated actions.”
