The vehicle that had plunged into the Tarlac River when the Agana Bridge collapsed recently has been recovered, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) announced on Wednesday evening.

PCG Spokesperson Commodore Noemie Cayabyab said the vehicle was confirmed by its owner to be the same one that fell into the river after a portion of the bridge collapsed on August 29.

Personnel attempted to haul the submerged vehicle from the river at around 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, but were unable to extricate it from the riverbed.

A larger-capacity crane was then deployed to aid the retrieval operation.

The PCG said its surface search for the two missing passengers remains ongoing.
