The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is preparing for the expected influx of passengers at seaports nationwide as Filipinos travel to their home provinces for the observance of Undas 2026.
PCG spokesperson Commodore Noime Cayabyab said the preparations are in line with the directives of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez to ensure the safety and security of sea travelers, according to a report by RH Tina Nolasco.
The PCG will raise its alert status across all operating units nationwide from October 29 to November 3 to prepare for the anticipated increase in passenger traffic.
Around 17,000 personnel will be deployed across the country, including members of floating assets and deployable response groups composed of rescue personnel, medics and nurses who will provide assistance to passengers.
The Coast Guard will also deploy K9 units at major seaports to conduct security inspections and prevent prohibited items from being brought aboard vessels.
In addition, passenger assistance desks will be set up at seaports nationwide to address travelers’ concerns and provide necessary assistance throughout the Undas travel period.
